About InUrdu.pk
InUrdu.pk publishes two things: Muslim and Pakistani names with their Urdu spelling and meaning, and illustrated Urdu word lists for people learning the language. 12,192 names and 41 word lists at present.
Where the data comes from
The name collection began as a bulk import of roughly 17,000 records. The English meanings and pronunciations came with that import. The Urdu meanings were produced by machine translation from the English. That origin matters, so we state it rather than hide it, and we have separated what we have checked from what we have not.
What is verified and what is not

What we removed
Around 2,300 entries in the original import turned out not to be names. Some were ordinary Urdu words that had been scraped as names — آنکھ (eye), بنات (daughters). Some were ethnonyms or place names. Some were corrupted strings. Those entries no longer carry a meaning, because inventing one would have been the only way to fill the field.
A smaller set carried meanings that were positive but wrong. Where a word has a negative or inappropriate sense we now say so on the page instead of choosing the flattering reading — فجور means immorality, and a names site that glosses it as something pleasant is not being helpful.
Corrections
If a meaning or spelling here is wrong, we would rather know. Tell us which name and what the correct form is, ideally with a source, and we will fix it and note the change on that page.
